Islanders Nhl
New York (NY) Islanders is one of two ice hockey teams in New York. NY Islanders built block upstart New York Raiders Of The World Hockey Association (WHA), and WHA from entering her team at the newly built Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Nassau County. Nassau County officials wanted to have nothing in common the WHA, which are not considered professional league. Assistance sought by William Shea, who brought the New York Mets to the area. Shea, with the help of the then NHL president - Clarence Campbell - had a franchise awarded Roy Boe, clothing manufacturer and owner of the new American Basketball Association's Nets York, creating another NHL team in the league.
Expecting to be called Long Island Ducks, the team unexpectedly called New York Islanders. Playing in the Atlantic Division in the NHL, NY Islanders are based on Uniondale.
Beginning life in the league in 1972, won his first Stanley Cup, Champions Trophy in the NHL in season 1979/80 and the actions including the three trophies in succession in 1980/81, 1981/82, 1982/83 seasons. NY Islanders also won three consecutive Prince of Wales Trophy in 1982, 1983 and 1984 seasons year. Prince of Wales Trophy is awarded to Eastern Conference (formerly the Wales Conference) playoff champions.
1974 to 1979 - Years Accendancy
For the first few years was the time to build a team. In 1975, there has been one of the biggest revolutions in NHL history. After he won his first place in the playoffs, beat New York Islanders their fierce rivals, the New York Rangers in the very first round the best three games when he scored the winning goal 11 seconds into the extra session.
